The achievements of Lancashire’s young people have been recognised at a prestigious awards ceremony held at Burnley Mechanics.
The event was organised by Lancashire County Council’s Young People’s Service and Southlands High School student Jessica Clarke took the stage by storm with two musical ballads.
The Celebrate Youth ceremony acknowledged the significant contribution of young people in areas such as community engagement, volunteering and sport. During the awards event, fourteen acts performed to a packed audience and Year 8 student Jessica proved to be a highlight of the evening.
Jessica performed two theatrical songs; ‘Popular’ from the musical Wicked and ‘Let It Go’ from Disney film Frozen.
Not only did Jessica leave the audience in awe but she was truly entertaining as she acted the musical ballads demonstrating her vocal and acting talents. It was wonderful and uplifting performance that created an instant stir in the audience.
County Councillor Matthew Tomlinson, cabinet member for children, young people and schools, said: “Congratulations to Southlands student Jessica Clarke. I was so impressed by her performance.”
“Southlands are proud of Jessica for representing the school at this County event. Her performance was magnificent and I have received great feedback. Well done.”– Mark Fowle
