Energetic Students at Southlands High School have raised over £1,000 in aid of Sports Relief by competing in House Handball competitions.
Many students eagerly signed up to participate in the competition which was led by Gates House. Whilst their classmates cheered them on during the 5 hours of fast paced games. In the spirit of Sports Relief, Handball is very much a team sport and it is quite fast as goals are scored frequently. It was not uncommon for both teams to score more than 30 goals which thrilled the spectators!
For the less athletic students, they were opportunities to raise money by selling the Sport Relief wristbands, partaking in the raffle, entering the sports quiz and purchasing one of the superb cakes on sale in the dining room. All students took the opportunity to wear their own clothes, leaving their school uniform at home for the day to show a visual display of red attire throughout school in support of such a great cause.
“Students have loved the challenge that the handball competition has given them. The atmosphere around school has been brilliant and all the extra effort was worth it for Sport Relief.”
